Hi, Help.

I am a computer illiterate and ma having problems opening
only certain attachments to emails.

The error message comes us saying "OE has removed this
unsafe attachment". I know this means that it is
protecting me from a virus. Does it mean that the virus is
in the attachment or the system from which it came? In
other words, is it attachment specific or system specific?

It's odd because I seem to get all the junk, but word
documents such as meeting minutes and agendas from a city
meeting won't open.

Is there a way to remove this option? Or am I stuck with
not receiving certain things from certain people/places?

Thanks
Heather

Heather,
Try this: when you're in Outlook Express, find the Tools
menu at the top of the page, click on that, and then go
into Options. One of the tabs at the top should say
Security. After you click on that tab, there should be an
option that says:

"Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could
potentially be a virus."

Uncheck that box and click on "OK" at the bottom. You
should then be able to open all attachments in your mail.
Of course, you need to be careful. All viruses come
through attachments, so you need to have a consistently
updated virus software program. Hope this helps.
