Can't logon

Cleaned the computer of viruses and now when the computer boots up it shows user name, but when you select a user it starts logging in and then immediately logs off. It does this even when trying to start in safe mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If this was my machine then I would consider it compromised. I would do
this:
- Back up any important file that is not already backed up.
- Format the hard disk.
- Re-install the operating system and all applications.
- Install a good virus scanner.
- Keep the virus scanner updated at all times.
