Interesting problem - everytime I logon to a user on my Windows XP
system, even Administrator, even in SAFE mode, I am automatically
logged-off.

Any advise please?
Thanks.

Do you get any error messages before being logged out?

First thoughts would be your system isnt activated & passed the 30 day Grace
Period, or if it was activated then it has been de-activated

Hi Craig - no error messages - it siply logs off as soon as I hit the
enter button to logon - I can hear the logon chime then the logoff chime!

Hmm...
Still sounds like the PC hasnt been activated and the grace period has
expired

Hi Craig,

The PC has been in use for just under a year. Honestly, I don't
remember if I activated it or not. I'm not even sure that I was supposed
to activate it. I bought the laptop direct from IBM with XP preloaded.
How can I check since I can't logon at all, even in SAFE mode, even as
Administrator?

Thanks.

Rick

If your Laptop came pre-loaded with XP then its likely it has been activated
already, ruling that out

Have searched the Net looking for a possible cause of the fault you are
experiencing

The best I have found for now has been at

You may need to register (free) with the site to view the answers

One of the answers was that the Security Log was full,( MS KB =
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=313322 )

other answers are to do a "Repair Installation" and there are links on the
page describing how to do this

Hope this helps

Craig.
