Can't log on

I have Win2KPro running at home, connected to a Linksys
router and then to cable modem. The machine was
configured as a corporate network configuration. I was
having trouble sharing with 2 other machines at home, also
connected to the router, so I decided it might work better
to change the configuration to the workgroup, without
corporate network. When I restarted, I lost all ability
to lon on either as administrator or user. I have tried
the correct passwords for both and the alternative
passwords I use for other machines, just in case. I
cannot get into Windows at all. I would gladly return to
the Corporate network configuration, but I can't get
logged on to change back. What can I do short of a total
Win2KPro reinstall?

I had a similar problem at work when changing workgroup configurations, but unfortunately I had to call our technical support to remedy. Unless you know what domain/workgroup the computer is currently in and a user/password for that configuration, I do not know what you can do. Have you tried booting in Safe Mode to make the necessary changes?

I tried Safe Mode, but still could not log on or change
back to network.

1. You must connect the PC to the network that contains the domain
controller. (take it back to work)
2. You must login as a local administrator
3. When you rejoin the domain you will have to provide a Domain
administrator account and password to join the domain.

Since most admins will not give you the information for step 2 and step 3
you will most likely have to ask a network admin to come in and rejoin it
for you.
