Can't log on as administrator

I am the brand new Computer Lab Supervisor at a small school. There is one staff computer that has internet access and I want to load my Palm Pilot software onto this computer. The problem is the Palm Pilot software says I need administrator access and I have no idea what the password is and the former supervisior is unavailable. What do I do to add myself as an administrator or change the former admin's password?
 
Hi Carol. You need administrator access in order to add yourself to the
administrators group or change another administrators password. There are
"unofficial" workarounds that you may look into at the FAQ link below. --- Steve
