Can't log in

I have a machine running XP Pro SP1 with NAV. Suddenly I
can't log in, either as user or administrator or boot to
safe mode. The machine starts to load normally but at the
user prompt, it takes the password then says shutting
down. you can shut down OK but are stuck in this loop. is
this a virus or something else. Help!!!

You haven't by change removed any spyware/adaware lately?

Great.... wsaupdater.exe was the problem... removed as
per instructions and now all is running fine again.
Thanks for your help in sorting this out. I couln't have
done it without it. Thanks once again and regards.......
