cant install xp pro

i try to install xp pro but it gives me a black screen with the error: NTLDR is missing, please restart

what kind of error is that? is it a hardwareproblem?

Must not but could be

First: Do you have a disk in the diskdrive? Remove it and try once again

Second: Do you have installed it on a large Partition with FAT32 on which also is/was for example Win9x - boot with rescue-disk of Win9x and try at the command prompt 'sys c:' than try once again to install xp pro

Third: Do you use single-sided and double-sided ram at the banks at the same time? Try only one kind of ram at the banks at the same time - only single-sided or only double-sided but not mixed

would be nice to hear of you and your results if the hints were helpfull
