Cant install AoE II on XP pro

I use to have win 98 n AoE works properly, then I upgrade my PC to n change motherboard, add DDR memory n change Hard drive (almost every thing) then load Win Me n install AoE n works perfect, then I format HD n change to Win XP Pro, n now I cant install AoE. say unable to load setup info. I run Direct X diagnostics n nothing wrong. I try to install same CD on a friend PC n installation n playing was fine

What can I do 2 fix this??????????
 
Try, the built in software compatibility settings in XP Pro, it's under the Accessories tab. "Program Compatibility Wizard
You can tell XP to run the game as if it was on a machine using Windows 98. Hope that works.
 
Are both PCs running the same version of XP (Home or Pro) and does both have
Service Pack 1 installed?

No, We don't have service pack 1 installed, and both pc has win XP pro.
