can't input into my form

I have a form that I have been using to enter data into a table (or at least
I think I have).
The data source of the form is actually a query as I have several tables
represented on the form. I know this has worked fine for everything I have
tried to do so far.
Today I went to enter new records and the fields do not receive the input
(except on a subform). Could I have accidently altered some setting?
What would I check to allow me to enter the data into the tables from the
form?
