cant hear speakers /mic etc

i cant get my speakers and mic to work ..no sound comming
through ..had to reformat my computer and reload
everything due to a virus ..now i cant seem to get up the
audio in chat..playing music etc...ive tried the wizard
but wont let me test etc...do i need to install any
hardware to get audio working..thankyou
 
Go to the Control Panel\Sounds and Audio Devices. Click on the Audio tab/
Volume control and see if anything is muted.

*SIGH* have you installed the driver for your sound hardware? If you don't
know what that is suggest you RTFM.
