Can't get rid of a page I pasted from the internet

I have Word 2000 and pasted some instructions from the internet on a one page
document. Now when I open Word, the document is immediately there. When I
try to open a new document, I get the same. I cannot get rid of the page. I
tried running a repair job, but this didn't help. Any ideas??
