can't get pictures to download

Just installed IE6.
I'm unable to obtain JPEG pictures on web sites that I was
previously able to view with IE5.
The "Toggle Images" link doesn't help. Instead of an
image, the box displays either a JPEG symbol(circle-
triangle-square) or an 'x'.
Checking/unchecking "show pictures" in tools/internet
options/advanced doesn't help either.
