Can't get Outlook 2000 to recognize the Exchange Server on a Win X

I have a Laptop which is running XP Home. I want it to access the local
network which has Exchange server 2000 I believe.
However when I run Outlook from the laptop it doesn't recognize the
Exchange server.
I can access the internet and I can access the server itself.
I've had no problems with Windows 2000 but I can't figure out XP home.
There are several other computers which have XP home that can use the
Exchange Server for Outlook. One factor is that they have a Japanese OS
where as the Laptop I'm having trouble with is a English OS.
If you can help with this that'd be great! Thanks!

What error message do you get? Why are you using the Home edition of XP in
a corporate environment?

No I don't get any error messages. And yes, I am using XP home in a network
enviroment.
As I've said before I'm able to access the internet but I can't communicate
with the other computers via Outlook.

If you get no error messages, then how do you know that "However when I run
Outlook from the laptop it doesn't recognize the Exchange server."?

I'm not sure why I should be recieving any error messages, I guess XP is
just not recognizing the Exchange server.
I had a friend look into this as well but he couldn't figure out what was
wrong and neither can I.

In what mode is OL 2000? Help>About will tell you. Internet Mail Only mode
can't access Exchange except via POP or IMAP. You need to have OL in
Corporate opr Workgroup mode in order to use MAPI protocols.
