Cant get my Comp to recognize my video camera

I have a Sony Handycam DCR-TRV240 Digital 8 camera, and i
have been filming a movie for my film studies final, and
i have 3 days to edit it, and i cant get my computer to
recognize the hardware! I've tried everything! Any
suggestions?
