Cant get MIC to work with sound card

I can't get my microphone to work on ym computer.

I am runnig Windows XP, 2.4Ghz P4, 512 MB DDR Ram with a
Creative 128 Vibra sound card.

my Asus P4PE motherboard came with Onboard sound, although
i do not know the brand.

To use my mic i have to plug the head phone into the
Creative Vibra card and plug the MIC into the onboard
sound, becuase it doesnt work on the Creative Vibra. I
have tried to disable the on board sound and swap the
sound cards but to no effect.

Make sure the Microphone is not MUTED in the advanced volume properties for
your sound card. Somne DEFAULT that way.
