Can't fix NTFS problem

Norton Disk Doctor reports a security descriptor problem on my NTFS C: drive. To fix this, Norton schedules chkdsk to run on reboot. When doing that, chkdsk appears to run ok, although boot up starts too soon after chkdsk completes for me to read the report. After the reboot, NDD still reports a problem. How can I run chkdsk on my own so I can read the report? My Windows XP Home Edition is an OEM installation. I have both a recovery CD (which also includes the Windows XP setup) and a restoration floppy that has a program (DISE) which can restore the system from a FAT32 partition (Drive D) on my HDD.

JP;
Open My Computer, double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop.
Right click your hard drive/Properties.
On the Tools tab, under Error-checking, click Check Now.
Under Check disk options, select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box and the
Automatically fix file system errors box.

You have to reboot for Error-checking to run.

You will find the report in the Event Viewer.
Start | Run | type: eventvw | OK
It's under either Application or System, listed as Winlogon.

The same thing happens to me. I think it is a Norton problem so I am
no longer user Disk Doctor. I have found Norton Utilities tyo be
essentiallu useless under NTFS. I am still using norton Anti-Virus and
Norton Ghosr but nothing else from Norton.

Turns out I made the problem go away by deleting some offending files.
It all started when Norton AntiVirus was choking on a file in a folder
installed by a game. I uninstalled the game and all the problems went away.

Same problem here...... I think Norton is reporting this wrong. What game did you delete to make your problem go away
Windows chkdsk finds no errors....
