i have a new computer, i was used to windows Me, it was so easy to use and
now I am having a terrible time finding how to do the things I need to do! I
have to make labels, gift certificates and graphs, I used to be able to go
thru the word processor, now that doen not give me the option...help!

Why dont you install Office Suite which Includes a Word Processor.. it wont
make a difference weather you use the Word Program in ME or XP

Your old computer likely came with the likes of Microsoft Works or Microsoft
Office installed by the manufacturer. Your new computer seems not to have
this installed. Many companies have dripped this type of software from their
packages to bring down their costs. They can now advertise prices at
$400-500 for a computer that doesn't do much of anything.

You will have to purchase the necessary software to regain your old
capabilities. The Microsoft Works package, with the full blown version of
Microsoft Word included, is a good choice.

If you do not want to spend any more money you can go with Open Office,
available here: http://www.openoffice.org/

This has nothing to with Windows Me vs. Windows XP. A word processor is not
part of either operating system (except for WordPad, which is really more of
a glorified text editor than a full-featured word processor). In fact. no
version of Windows has ever come with a word processor, nor with any other
significant application software.

Undoubtedly your previous computer came with bundled software (including a
word processor) in addition to Windows. But you new computer comes without
such software That difference had to do what the vendors of the two systems
offered for sale, what the prices were, and what you chose to buy, not with
the version of Windows..

Since your computer came without it, if you want such software--and almost
everyone does--you need to buy and install it separately. There are many
choices, at several widely different price points. There is Microsoft Office
(in various versions), Microsoft Works, Corel WordPerfect Office, the
inexpensive StarOffice, and the freeware OpenOffice. These all have
different strengths and weaknesses and although most of us have our
favorites, it's hard to say what's best for you. Before spending any money,
you may want to start by downloading the free OpenOffice, and see if that
meets your needs.
