Hi! Everyone,

I have two related questions:

1. I just upgraded my OS from Win98 to XP_Home. I search
through the Window Explorer, but the template
file "normal.dot" was nowhere to be found. Could someone
help?

2. When I opened those old doc prepared under Win98, most
of them prop up the "Control Toolbox" tool-bar. When I
closed this tool-bar, the next opening of this doc, it
appears again. I wanted to check the setting
in "normal.dot", but that file cannot be found.
However, new doc prepared under XP will not have this
problem.

Thanks.

You have to go into Windows Explorer's menu Tools > Folder Options >
View and select "Show hidden files and folders". Also, if you're using
Explorer's Search function, you have to click "Advanced options" and
select "Search hidden files and folders".

But you don't have to find normal.dot to fix the next part....

The Control Toolbox pops up when you open a file that contains a macro
or a control from the toolbox, and you have the macro security level
set to High (which disables all macros and controls). Go into Tools >
Macro > Security and set the level to Medium, then reopen the document
and click the Enable Macros button in the dialog that appears.

The new documents don't show this behavior only because you didn't put
any macros or controls in them.
