I want to export my address to a CSV file but the entries for Import and
Export in the File menu are always grayed out and I can't figure out why
these options aren't available.
Which magic incantation am I missing?
This is in Outlook 2000 SR1 9.0.0.5414

Thanks
Pete

I am using Outlook 2002 SP3.... but here is how I can do
it.

1) from inbox (or anywhere I think) I choose 'File'
menu, then 'Import and Export' option
2) i choose 'export to a file' (then 'next')
3) i choose 'comma seperated values (DOS)' (then 'next')
4) then i get a tree to pick what to export. i scroll
around until i find 'Contacts' (then 'next')
5) enter a file name "c:\blah.csv" (then 'next')
6) then 'finish'

Good luck!

The import/export wizards are install-time options. Perhaps when Outlook
was installed on your machine, the option to import/export wasn't included.
Run Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and select Microsoft Office (or
Microsoft Outlook, if it appears separately) and click Change. You should
then be able to add in the import/export wizard.

However, what's the goal? If you're moving your data to another system also
running Outlook, you don't need to export/import.

Thanks Zapp. That did it.

From Brian Tillman:

I've been playing with Linux (Knoppix actually) and I wanted to port the
address book to an email program there.

Thanks.
