Try to download Firefox and keep getting "Security Alert: Your current
security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded". I have Windows
XP Prof 2002 with SP2 with Norton. Please be gentle, I am a SC, senior
citizen to all you whippersnappers(young persons) out there and am fairly new
to computers. I have tried some of the suggestions on this board to no
avail. Please Help.

Control Panel > Internet Options > Security tab > Custom Level button >
Click Reset

i don't know if you can
handle firefox because it
has too many bells n whistles, most
of which i havn't bothered to fiddle with...

but if you do, be sure to fasten your seatbelt

Absurd. Yes, FF 2.0 has many features that FF1.5 doesn't. But the
interface is familiar and intuitive, the new features generally make
using the browser easier to use and don't intrude themselves on you.

it really is funny how
people will disagree with my
opinion based on my experience.

FYI: my experience may be absurd to
you, but i don't care.....

People disagree because you give personal opinions, not facts, and don't
back them up.

According to Google, you are far from "fairly new to computers"
http://groups.google.com/groups/pro...cyB-YNJTZmCTOYSIxLJk87Rok6ViNdSJ06mlt_A&hl=en

whatever your experiences and the facts
as you see them are you and yours....

i don't care if "people" don't see eye to eye
with me. I'm sharing my experience and my opinion
with whomever might find them useful and without
caring who feels they have the credentials or authority
or experience or equipment or, etc...., to back them up or not.

whatever i care to share is based on "my mood", "my experience", "my
equipment"
and "my credentials"....

if you or anyone else have a better suggestion for the o.p., then make one.

as a professional you can rest assured that whatever it is whether it is
accurate
or inaccurate, personal or impersonal, I won't attack you and your opinions
thereof...

Whether you care or not about your experience being absurd or whether
people are "seeing eye to eye" with you is irrelevant as to your
original statement. That you even made the statement about ff having too
many bells and whistles that someone else might not be able to handle,
w/o having first attempted to "fiddle" with them yourself is, in and of
itself, the height of absurdity and smug and unprofessional to boot.

If you are passionate about the software, then tell it to the
person requesting your input...

if i want an opinion about me, myself and I, I will either pay and or ask
for one from
someone who has the credentials and qualifications to provide them....

presently, i don't see how a "norm" who is at (e-mail address removed)
can make a pertinent statement about me.

FYI: Opinions are best kept in the back pocket and
near the source.

your opinions about "me" mean absolutely nothing to "me" and this
thread is not about me, as well...

Nice Haiku :)

Anyway, While firefox does have bells and whistles, they don't
interfere with the interface.

Do you have a cat? Firefox causes your cat to get warts.

No cat? Go for it.

Maybe 'fairly new' is the wrong term - how is 'computer illiterate'? I have
had a computer for years but have used it mainly for email. Anyway, I had
already tried Ayush's suggestion in the first post with no results. The rest
of the posts got way off the subject. Thanks for any help.

Don't like my opinion of you? Then what would make you think you could
post your following opinion of the op without challenge?

You have no basis for any such an opinion for or of the op. It was
suggested by another that your opinion was absurd. I would go further to
suggest that when you use the product that you "fiddle" with it to learn
something about it. Then possibly YOUR opinion of what the op might or
not be able to handle might have some weight.

Well, maybe Firefox has too many bells and whistles for YOU, but most
people can use it with no problems.

Disable Norton and you will probably be able to get firefox.
