Can't Download Certain POP email

I have noticed over the past few weeks, that certain email is causing an
error in Outlook and cannot be downloaded from my ISP's POP server. It is
ALWAYS spam that has what appears to be HTML content. Ironically, it seems
to be offshore pharmaceuticals.

Whenever I get the error, I have to do into my POP account via a WebMail
interface, delete the offending email, and go back into OL2002 to
re-initiate the download...which completes w/out a problem.

My ISP indicates that since I can download these messages with OL Express,
the problem is probably w/ OL2002. Anyone see the same problem? Is there a
fix out there? I am current on Windows and Office 2002 updates.

Thanks,
Paul

It's a known problem with Outlook - a bad message id or something causes
outlook to stall.

Doesn't seem to be limited to Outlook. Have a fellow in the next office who refuses to move with times and is still using his original Win 95 system and has the same problem. I have to go in through web mail to fix his problem several times a week. Interestingly, on his system, once he encounters the problem, you can't fix it with webmail from his system, you actually have to go to another computer. Strange.

Thanks, Diane.

Has there been any chatter regarding a possible fix. The fact that this
problem doesn't occur in OLExpress leads me to believe that a good
programmer would be able to tweak something in OL.

I have the exact same problem with Outlook 2003. Outlook fails where Outlook Express is fine.
I posted, the message below on June 29th to the Outlook Forum but got no response!
"Outlook 2003 crashes when receiving e-mail. This happens once or twice a day. I have Outlook Express installed on the same machine and this uses the exact same configuration and never crashes. I now am downloading mail to outlook express and exporting it to outlook 2003!
I have the error reporting function on the machine enabled and it must have reported this error several hundred times by now, but I cant find anything in the knowledge base. I have uninstalled and re installed, I have run detect and repair, I have done full system scans with McAfee, and Windows XP(Home) and Office 2003 are up to date.
Suggestions please

Given this is a "known problem" what do we have to do to get Microsoft to fix it?

Wait... :) It's has to do with how the mapi transport works, which is
complicated.
