Can't download anything. Please help.

Getting message -" .... could not be saved, because the source file could not be read. Try again later or contact the server admin.

I'm trying to download QuickTime from apple.com and a software update from avid.com. I've tried for several days now and I always get this message

What is the file path that appears before the "could not be saved"?

You can usually resolve this issue by deleting and recreating the "Temp"
folder in your user profile:

%userprofile%\Local Settings\Temp

You'll need to reboot to Safe Mode in order to do this though.
