Hello,

We enabled the Firewall provided with Windows XP. We
then purchased a Norton Security CD to install their
Antivirus and Firewall. The instructions told us to
disable the XP Firewall before installing the Norton CD
because it interferes with the performance of the Norton
Software. However, after invoking Network Connections
from the Control Panel, and selecting and right-clicking
the Internet Dialup connection, the Connection Properties
Dialog Box does not appear, so we cannot disable the
Firewall.

Does anyone know why the Connection Properties Dialog Box
does not appear for the internet connection, or how to
make it appear, or how to disable the XP Firewall?

Please, Help! Any information would be very much
appreciated.

Thanks,

Marie

Marie,

Are you trying to disable, while the connection is
active? If you are, try disconnecting and then opening up
the connection dialog box.

If this doesn't work post back.. :D

Hope this helps

Hi Mike,

I try to disable by selecting Properties while right-
clicking the internet connection. However, I would not
be connected to the internet if that is what you mean by
active connection. I try to disable while not connected
to the internet, but I can't get the Properties dialog
box to display in order to disable. Please, help!

Thanks,

Marie

Yes Mike, I am logged on as an Administrator. Also, the
dialup line has America On Line, but I try to access the
Properties while not connected. Could the problem be
related to the America On Line software?

Thanks,

Marie
