can't dimention a database

I have just installed Access 2000 on a PC, but when I try to define a
variable as a database, access doesn’t recognise the word database.

Is there something wrong with my install?
 
Hi Keith,

open a VBA windows, from tools menu select references, uncheck Microfsoft
activeX Data Object Library and check Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object Library.
