CAN'T DELETE TEXT!!!!! STRANGE PLZ HELP

For some reason when i high light a bunch of words and press my back space,
the words do not delete instead it places the crusor at the begining of the
line??????

Check tools > options > edit > typing replaces selection
Also make sure tools > options > general - the two Word Perfect options are
unchecked.
