Hello,

I am getting an error in Outlook 2002 when I try and
delete any message prior to June 2004?? Not sure why this
is happening. The PC is running Win XP Pro SP2 with all
the latest updates for both the OS and Office. I have
looked on the MS site but can only find one KB article
that even comes close and it told me to get all the
updates for Office. Has anyone else seen this before and
is there a solution? Thanks for any and all help.

Chris

Check your archiving settings. Those messages might already be archived. Also
make sure you have the correct pst file open. If you can right click on
"Personal Folders" and close it, it's the wrong one.

Hi Mary,

Great idea but unfortunately there are no archive settings
that are set on the Inbox itself. There archive settings
in the Options of OL2002 but they are set to prompt before
archiving and I have never archived any messages. Just on
the off chance I may have unknowingly, I checked for the
file that "would" contain the archived emails,
archive.pst, and it does not exist anyway. The messages
in question can be opened, replied to,
forwarded...everything but moved or deleted. Any other
ideas?

If I were in this situation, I'd create a new PST and move to it all the
mesasges I wished to keep, leaving the problem ones in the old PST. I'd
then change my default delivery location (Toolc>E-mail Accounts>Next - lower
left) to be the new PST, close the old PST and, after stopping and
restarting Outlook, delete the old PST.
