I'm having the weirdest problem with MSWord 5.1. I can
no longer delete a word or a phrase by highlighting it.
Once I do highlight something and press the backspace
button, nothing happens. Did I unwittingly change
something and is there a way to get this back again.

Thanks for your help,

Ron Dubay

You need to change your WordPerfect settings. What happened in WordPerfect
is when you selected text and deleted it a dialog box came up asking if you
really wanted to do this.

Click the "Tools" menu, select "Options", click the "General" TAB and
uncheck the two WordPerfect options.

If it's Delete that's not working, then Bill's answer is correct. If it's
really Backspace, as you say, then you need to check the box for "Typing
replaces selection" on the Edit tab of Tools | Options.
