can't delete a movie file

hey.
out of the blue i found a 700mb movie file in one of my
hard drives (not the windows one). i can't delete it, not
even through a safe mode. every time i try to access it i
get a message that it's being used by a different
program/person. the thing is, once i get into that
directory, the whole computer slows down completely, i
see the working light constantly on, and i have to rebbot
(and even then it takes my computer about 10 minutes to
shut down).
any suggestions?
 
You mean that the file appeared by spontaneous generation (-:
