i am unable to delete a file as the computer claims another person or
program is using it , i am the only person who has access and am unable to
find where the program is being used. is there a software or a method of
finding where this file is being used, so that it may be removed.

Probably spyware using it running in the background.Try
safe mode,Most computers you access this by turning off
the computer then turn it back on while repetedly pump
the F5 key till the safe mode screen comes on,select safe
mode, then administrator, then go and delete the
file, reboot and the file will be gone.

On Tue, 13 Jul 2004 12:29:30 -0700,
use the F8 key instead of the F5 key -- this one will get
you to Safe Mode

Try running task manager, from the taskbar properties. Look
at the processes and startup apps for the file then
highlight it by clicking on it and select 'end task'. Then
you may be able to delete the file.
That will cause errors on next bootup so you will need to
edit the registry to remove it from the run section or
applications/app paths sections, just do a search for the
exe file in question, and remove all instances of the pest.
