Fred

I have a i386 dir on my D: drive that won't let me delete
it. It says "Access Denied" every time i try. I have
tried renaming it, Safe mode and the Windows Console. Is
there anything else I can try? Thanks.

Hi

That folder contains the files for re-installing XP. It is possible that
your PC supplier put it there. May I suggest that you don't try and delete
it - you may not be able to re-install XP otherwise. Have you got an XP CD
either provided by your PC supplier or one that you have purchased yourself?

I built this pc so I put everything on it. :) I
reinstalled windows and this dir is not needed. Is there
a boot CD I can use for Windows Xp Pro on the NTFS file
system that would work?

Hi

If you built the PC yourself - and therefore that folder wasn't put there by
a PC supplier - a copy from the XP CD could have put there by the
installation program.

Hi Fred,

Open a command prompt (Start > Run > cmd)
navigate to the parent folder using the command cd, cd..

Open task manager by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del, go to the first tab
and kill explorer.exe

In the command prompt window, type

rd folder_name /s

Then open a new task in task manager --> Explorer.exe

Good luck

Hi

Have you tried the 'attrib' command - from a command prompt - to strip the
folder of all it's attributes, such as

attrib -h -r -s i386

and then try to delete it.

It just says "Access Denied" when I try to use attrib on
i386. Is there any good Boot CD's I can try to use?
