I have tried everything. well, nto everything, since i haven't cured
it yet!! even 'custom' in Set Program Access.. it acknowledges and
supposedly sets up; but still, any mail link in IE6 brings up OE
instead of NS.

What did I miss? thanx

You might try changing the setting to a different program, then back to Netscape, which should correct the Registry information if it is incorrect. In other words, it may be displaying Netscape but pointing to Outlook Express. If you are comfortable with editing the Registry, check these keys:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open\command
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\mailto\shell\open\command

Hey PB, thanx for trying. but no avail. I had to create the
URL:Mail... set it to NS, reboot, didn't take.

sounds like the OS is bugged? how can I uninst OE without touching
IE?? OE isn't 'instaslled' according to the 'windows components'....

thanx

Repair or Reinstall IE/OE in WinXP
(though Method 2 works in most other OSs)
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378

NB: All Windows-based processes, including anti-virus app, should be closed
while performing any of the above.

I see the following in your headers:

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.0.2)
Gecko/20030208 Netscape/7.02

Is Netscape your default browser? Is Communicator the default Mail Client
in Netscape? I seriously think you should be posting this to a
Netscape-specific newsgroup. Keep in mind: When I searched
netscape.public.general in Google Groups, I found only two vague and
indefinite threads concerning making Communicator the default Mail Client in
WinXP, and none of the posters were using IE as the default browser).[/QUOTE]

def browse = IE6.0
NS7 mail = def mail client in both NS and windows Set Access.....

did the sfc. no probs. should i make a line in the unattend.txt
OEAccess=off ?? is there a section it belongs in?

i am still checking NS newsgroups too. no hits

thanx
