hello,
I wonder if someone could help me. When I recieve email attachments excel
format from a particular person this is the error message I get when, I try
opening it.
"Can’t create file: xxxxxx.xls. Right click the folder you want to create
the file in, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check your
permissions for the folder."
thanks

Sounds like Outlook might have lost its reference to the outlook secure temp
folder. If you open regedit and motor to (this is for outlook 2003):

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Security

There is a value on the right named OutlookSecureTempFolder that usually
points to a folder under the Temporary Internet Files. You can change this
value when Outlook is closed to a new location (e.g. User's temp folder) and
then start Outlook and see what happens.

Thanks I'm not the person who posted the orginal question, but this
helped my solved a very similar problem. The other I did additonally
was to choose 'show hidden files and folders' in Windows Explorer,
Folder Options, View.
Cheers.
