Find and Replace will not let me copy anything in my Word
document and paste it into the Find what box. I want to
search for symbols I come across in a document from
someone else I am reviewing and find all the instances of
the symbol in the document.

Even though the question mark in Find says paste into the
Find what block it won't let me. Anything copied and
then pasted goes into the document, not into the Find
what box.

What version of Word is this? If it's 2002 or 2003, are you sure you clicked
in the Find What field? and How are you trying to paste it into the Find
What field? Don't use Edit - Paste or the Paste tool. Instead, press Ctrl+V.

If it's not Word 2002 or 2003, then you might need to install the
FindSymbols macro that's contained in the sample macros that come with
[some] earlier versions of Word.

Control+V did the trick (Word 2002), thanks.
