I just got a new laptop with XP home. My desktop on the LAN is running XP pro. They are both on the same Workgroup. I setup a folder on my desktop to be shared but I can not connect to it from my laptop. I tried to ping the desktop from the laptop but it does not "see" it. I tried to ping the laptop from the desktop and it does not "see" it. What is going on? Any ideas

Thanks

Tin

Hi,

Have you installed the client for file and printer sharing on both systems
yet?

Hi Tin,

Ok, so can you see each other from the networking applet? Are you using
static or dynamic IP's (didn't assign them both the same one I hope)? What
other protocols are installed (TCP/IP)? In order to help you, you need to
give us the details on what you have and what you've done, otherwise we're
just guessing.

How did you set it up?
Router or hub?
Cabling?
Internet service?
Did you use the networking wizard?
