I have SBS 2003 installed. Since a couple of nights ago,
I can't connect to any network shares (including the
profile share). No changes have been made that I can
recall. The following is in the Event Viewer on the
client computers:

-------------------

Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming
profile and is attempting to log you on with your local
profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the
server when you logoff. Possible causes of this error
include network problems or insufficient security rights.
If this problem persists, contact your network
administrator.

DETAIL - The network name cannot be found.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

-------------------

Please help! I've tried everything and can't think of
what else to do.

Thanks!

Did you add a new switch by chance?

make sure the NetBIOS over TCP/IP are enabled and not disabled on the
internal network interface.

NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled. I originally thought my
SMC router/switch was causing the problem, so I switched
it with a Linksys with the same results. Here's my setup:

Cable modem goes into the router/switch. From there, I
have three client computers connected, a couple of
wireless connections, and the SBS 2003 server (w/ a
forced IP address).

All was working fine until a couple of days ago. Can't
think of any settings that changed at that time.

I really appreciate any assistance you can offer.

Thanks!

Not sure if this means anything but when I do NET VIEW
\\SERVER-NAME I get the following:

Share name Type Used as Comment

-----------------------------------------
Users Disk
The command completed successfully.

But when I do NET VIEW [Server IP address] I can see all
the shares.
