I have be having this problem for a while now and have not been able to
find any way to fix it. I have a laptop and 2 PCs connected to a dlink
di604 router, I can access the internet and download fine but none of
the three can access the each others folders. I have shared all my
drives between each computer but it always says "cannot find or must
have admin abilities" and I'm the admin on all the computers. Can
somebody help me please.

Which firewall are you using? You must be able to ping one computer from
another for any of this stuff to work.
If ping does not work, make certain that you have allowed ICMP packets to go
through the firewalls.

Go to the cmd prompt, and enter "net view". Do you see the other computers?

I just started using Zone Alarm but have had this problem much longer
than that.

yes

Also, my router is not showing up in my network places on at least 2 of
my computers (the important ones).

yes
Then you are connected to the LAN. Can you ping the other computers
(including the router)?

Try putting "mirrored" accounts on each computer (same user name and
password) - it seems to work on some of my more difficult network problems.

BTW - can anyone point me to an article that talks about this? So far I've
only found reference to this with ISA Server.

It didn't work, usasma, I still can't access my router on my laptop or
access either computer with the other.

This is quite likely a misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall, but there
are several other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem.
Read this article with an open mind.

Look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and "net config
workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read this article,
and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):
