Can't compact database

Access 2003 saved in 2000 format running on WindowsXP Pro
When trying to compact & save I get an error message saying I don't have
permission for the " object.
Anyone got an idea as to what's up

One thing I would try first is compliling. When you go to your VB Editor, go
to debug/compile. If you any code errors it won't let you compile and
probably won't let you compact either.
