Can't close web page

I occasionally am unable to exit from (close) an open web page. When I
click on the "X" or "exit" I get an error beep. By using the Task
Manager (XP) I can "end the task" and close the page. Any help?

Could be some corruption, etc. Try reinstall IE 6.1

This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware, parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
