hi,
i just refragged my harddrive, i reinstalled everything by useing the
windows xp disc and i downloaded all the recent updates,
now whenever i open internet explorer it keeps going to the web page of the
computer manufacturers site, ive tried to change it in tools-internet options
but it wont let me change it, i put the address of the page i want as my
homepage but it doesnt work, i was wondering if i downloaded something from
microsoft updates that locks the homepage,or is it something else, i know its
not a virus or spyware or a hijack,
any help would be very welcome,
thanks

Have you tried actually loading the website and then using the
IE Tools, clicked the "Use Current" to map it as home ? Some
Security software will lock the home page to prevent hijacking.
I'm assuming your network is setup and you're able to load the
preferred site manually.

Most of the newer anti-virus and anti-spyware programs protect the home page
from change by default. You will have to make sure that tat option is off
to make a change. Turn the option back on when you're done. Some of the
malware programs try to reset it to what they want.
