can't change DVD regions

Aaagh! I still have 4 changes left on my DVD regions in systems manager(DVD properties) BUT, I can't change it to the one I need. I use XP Home....The DVD player tells me I need to change too and when I try, the pc freezes and nothing else happens (exept me shouting and repooting....again) Any ideas? Thanks
 
i would suggest posting this in a xp hardware related newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware.
