I've had Windows XP (SP2) loaded for about a month, no new hardware/software
installed either. Went to boot up, and said it could not boot up normally
and wants you to choose. I tried last know configuration, Safe Mode, and
another and still will not do anything. One time in Safe Mode choice it said
there was a missing or corrupt system file and asked if I wanted to repair
and I said yes, but still not getting any further than before. Needless to
say, I did not create a rescue disk! Can I boot from the system disk and do
a repair? Thanks for any help.

Hi

If you want to Repair XP2 you will need to create a slipstreamed SP2 CD,
otherwise you will have revert to the version that is your XP CD and then
upgrade to SP2 again later. To create a slipstreamed SP2 CD:

You will need to download the SP2 file (266 MBs) from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en -
or if you have an SP2 CD, you can copy the xpsp2.exe from that onto your
hard disk/partition

and then follow the directions in this article:

http://www.msfn.org/articles.php?action=show&showarticle=49

Thanks for the link, but where exactly do I go when I get to MSFN site.
There are many categories, etc. to go. Searched around some, with no luck as
to repair process, etc.

Hi

The MSFN site shows you how to create a slipstreamed SP2 CD. Follow the
directions from "Universal Windows Slipstreaming and Bootable CD Guide"
downwards.
