HI, I've recently removed the memory from a Dell Laptop
running XP Pro, reinserted (twice) and the computer no
longer boots. It powers on for about 3 seconds and then
turns off before anything can show up on the monitor? If
it's the memory, will buying new solve the problem? Could
it be something else? PLEASE HELP!

Well this has nothing to do with XP for a start. Why did you remove it in
the first place? Was the system under warranty? If so, then congratulations,
you've just voided it!

Why did you "remove the memory" in the first place?

Because I was checking to see what kind I needed to
upgrade it since i'm no expert on what the different kinds
of memory are, any suggestions? (besides calling Dell)

Goto dells website. Use there memory seletor to find out what memory you
need for your make/model of computer. Buy the memory from them also, cause
dell does some proprietary stuff and not all memory will work.

www.crucial.com/webpromo .. they (Micron, basically) guarantee it'll
work, or your money back. Of course fitting it yourself may invalidate
your warranty, but if you've taken the old memory out you already did
that. If Crucial have something that matches, it will almost certainly
be (lots) cheaper than Dell.
