The other night my machine was very slow to load the "my
prefrences page"- I'm running Windows XP Home Edition.
Then I started getting virtual memory low warnings. Now
last night my machine would not boot at all. It stopped
with a "parser failure at line 422" message. When I tried
to use safe mode it came up with 2 log-on icons: one for
administrator and one for me, both wanted passwords and
they both failed with the same error messages: "parser
failure at line 422"; then " The copy must be certified
with microsoft before you can log on. Do you want to
activate Windows now?"; then "a problem is preventing
Windows from starting. Computer error code 0x800004005;
then "application failed 0xc0012d"

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Hi

Try a 'Repair' install - although all Windows Updates may have to be
re-downloaded and re-installed:
