Can't assign IRQ to another value

I have a sound card that is being assigned an IRQ of 18 which it is sharing with the ATA storage controllers and a USB port. I want to assign an unused IRQ for the soundcard. There are a few that aren't assigned (5, for example). So I went into my BIOS and changed the IRQ setting from "AUTO" to "5" for the PCI slot the soundcard is plugged into. Windows XP always brings it up as 18 and won't let me change it. Is there a way I can change it?

Hi, you'd be better off moving the card to another PCI slot, that's if you
really have a problem with it where it is.....
