Can't add a command button to a report

I need to add a command button to a report but I don't get the properties. (ie: I can draw the button, but can't assign any code to it) What am I missing.

You can not place a functioning button on a report.
In some cases, you can make a form look like a simple report (white
background... etc) and have functioning buttons on that...

You could put a command button onto a custom toolbar, if
that helps.
