can't access USB hard drive

Hi folks,
I have a new external USB hard drive that I'm trying to use with my
laptop. It shows up under
Device Manager, and if I right click on "properties" it says it is
working properly. However it doesn't show up under My Computer so I
can't access it. Any idea?

Does it show up in the Disk Management console?

Start ==> Run ==> diskmgmt.msc

If the drive shows up and is partitioned and formatted assign it a drive
letter. If it is not partitioned and formatted you can can do so and assign
it a drive letter during this process.
