Can't access saved emails

I can't read emails I've saved to my hard drive. When I click on the email
icon in the file folder, I see the email for an instant, then there is a
bleep and then it is covered by the "The page cannot be displayed" page. It
also says it can't find the server. Sometimes the Information Bar box pops
up even though I can't see the information bar itself. All my emails saved
to my hard drive have the same problem; I have no problem viewing attachments
to these emails that I have also saved to the hard drive. This did not used
to be a problem on my Dell computer. I'm using Windows XP. Help, please.

There is no extension listed. The email icon merely gives the name I gave it
and the fact that it is an HTML document.

To see the file extension, go to Folder Options>View and uncheck "Hide
extensions for known file types". Now you'll be able to see the file
extension and post the answer for PA Bear.

Thanks for the suggestion, Malke. The extension is 'htm'. PA Bear, does
this help you figure out why I can't access my saved emails?

Try re-registering all of the DLLs listed in this KB article...

You Cannot Open New Internet Explorer Window or Nothing Happens After You
Click on a Link
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679

Installing the latest Cumulative Patch for IE may solve the problem as a
side-affect. Check in at Windows Update.

I've reregistered all of the dll's listed in the KB article in Windows Update
and have restarted the computer, all to no avail. The only difference is
that I now see the emails that are blocked/hidden for 1/2 second instead of
1/4 second. Am still receiving the blocking page 'The page cannot be
displayed".
I am not sure what you mean by cumulative patch for IE. My last update was
on 4/24 - Cumulative Security Update for IE for Windows XP (KB912812). But
my problem with not being able to see my saved emails has been going on for
months. ???

Then I would run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting a
HijackThis log to an appropriate forum for review. This might not be the
cause, but it's likely so best to at least rule it out.

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post
