I have setup a simple direct cable connection between 2 laptops. One is a
Dell (MaryPC) running Win XP Home updated to SP2. The other is a new H-P
LesPC) with Win XP Media. I setup the network with the Network Wizard....

I can ping either way using either the addresses (192.168.0.x [1 or 2]) or
the computer names. Both PCs see the Windows Network and the member PCs. In
addition, I was able to transfer many files via the File Transfer and
Settings Wizard from MaryPC to LesPC.

The problem is that MaryPC can see shared directories/printers on LesPC, but
Les PC does not access permission to MaryPC. Message is "\\MaryPC is not
accessible. May not have permission to this network resource........"

All firewalls have been disabled on both laptops and the Microsoft site has
been researched extensively for the cause, but unable to find fix.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!!

Les,

What's the complete and exact message?

Disabling firewalls is not always the answer.

There are other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem.
