Canoscan N650U - error message

When trying to scan I receive message "Unrecoverable error in scanner
(Code: 30E)." Another box says "Unable to open file." I'm on Win XP
and scanner has been working for 2 years. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago (Win XP + SP2) after scanning
several dozen photo prints into Adobe PS Elements 3. The first time it
occured I rebooted the PC and was able to scan a few more times before
it reappeared. This time I closed PSE, then closed the Canon ScanGear
Toolbox from the System Tray. I then restarted PSE (without rebooting)
and "imported" the remaining prints from the N650U without further
problems. I haven't had a repeat of the problem since then.

Sorry I've no definitive answer but that's all I can offer. I don't
know why it occured or why it went away, but that's what I did and it
worked for me.
