Canon RAW digital files, how to view with MS RAW file viewer

I have a Canon 30D and Olympus E500 dgital camera, have downloaded the RAW
file viewer from MS Updates but still cannot open any RAW digital files, I
thought MS had provided a file format in the latest update of RAW file viewer
but it will not open any RAW files at all, anyone have any clues on how to
view RAW files downloaded straight from the camera into My Pictues and then
opened in RAW file viewer, it will open any JPEG but not the RAW. Any
assistance would be appreciated.

I remember reading somewhere that one of the major camera manufacturers
had designed their camera to include a proprietary format for the raw
file's exposure and color correction information. Maybe the camera
manufacturers are exercising their option to not follow Microsoft's file
format reccomendations.
